The Talk GardenOur backyard garden is where I find peace and relaxation. While most of my neighbors chose to raze their property and install backyard pools, we decided to leave all of our trees and provide a sanctuary for nature. Our garden leans toward the tropical variety and the towering pine trees provide plenty of shade and acidic soil. We started with a yard full of trees and mud in December of 1999. Over the years we've amended our soil with pine needles, pine cones, mulch and compost. We've added a waterfall, two ponds, bird baths and bird feeders. Today the garden is filled with all kinds of critters. Our plants also get a huge helping hand in pollination from the honeybees I keep. [More about my beekeeping hobby can be found at http://beetalk.tripod.com.] My family was kind enough to give me a Nikon Coolpix 2500 digital camera. I find that, for a low cost camera, it is easy to use and takes amazingly sharp pictures, especially close-ups. I've tried to capture some interesting images from the garden on these pages. The site is a work in progress (meaning it gets updated when I feel like it). Currently, the site has photos of garden visitors and links to my audio projects.
