Sonic Impact 5066 Amplifier Upgrade - Page 8 of 10

This is a picture of the Hammond enclosure:

Hammond #1402H Enclosure

It's a very nice enclosure (albeit somewhat expensive). The aluminum face panels come with clear protective sheets to prevent marring the nicely finished aluminum during construction. I wish it had an option for flat black paint though. I ordered this large enclosure so that it could house an SLA battery. If the battery were to be mounted external, then one could get by with a much smaller enclosure.

I drilled all of the holes and mounted all of the components in the enclosure for test fitting.

After I was sure everything fit as planned. I removed the enclosures top and bottom panels to paint them flat black. I then reassembled the enclosure and created my electrical schematic.

The next step was to solder in all of the wiring to the components. I chose to attach my wires to the wires that were already pre-existing on the SI 5066 PCB. I didn't want to take the chance of accidentally de-soldering any of SMT components that were on the board. (The PCB and its components are tiny. It takes a steady hand to work in these tight quarters.)
